Dr. Izumi Toyoda is trained in both medical and surgical neurology and has a special interest in infectious/immune-mediated inflammatory brain disease and tumors of the central nervous system.

She graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Following the completion of the veterinary degree, she studied temporal lobe epilepsy and earned her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Stanford University. She then returned to UC Davis to complete a residency in small animal neurology/neurosurgery.
