Internal Medicine

Pet parents bring their pets to our Internal Medicine Department for many reasons

Just as your doctor might refer you to a specialist, your vet may recommend an SFAMC internist to help diagnose and treat complex medical issues. Our board-certified internal medicine specialists have advanced training and expertise in diagnosing and treating complex and chronic conditions that affect a variety of organ systems.

They provide care for hospitalized intensive care patients, handle referrals, and collaborate with general practitioners and other specialists on diagnoses and treatment plans for challenging cases. They have access to minimally invasive diagnostic tools such as ultrasound, endoscopy, CT, MRI, and lab tests. Internists play a critical role in managing sudden and long-term illnesses, improving quality of life, and offering life-saving treatments for severe conditions.
